Stories of Impact panel discussion hosted by Hannah Waddingham with Hannah Jones Prince William Tokunboh Ishmael

Today during London Climate Action Week 2024, investors and innovators from around the world celebrated the remarkable progress made so far by our Finalists and the incredible support shown by our partners in driving environmental innovation.

At ‘Stories of Impact’, hosted by Bloomberg Philanthropies and live-streamed on LinkedIn, we heard how in less than four years, over £70 million of direct and in-kind support has been generated to support our growing network of Finalists and Winners.

This includes £45.8 million in direct funding, £20.3 million in customer deals or pilot deployments, and £4.5 million in pro-bono support from professional services firms and accelerators within The Earthshot Prize’s Global Alliance of partners.

During a captivating hour of panel discussions, we heard from The Earthshot Prize founder Prince William and Finalists Nidhi Pant – S4S Technologies, Meaghan Brosnan – WildAid Marine Program, Charlot Magayi – Mukuru Clean Stoves, Manja Kargbo – Freetown the Treetown, and Chris Kastern – Abalobi.

Working with experts in business, philanthropy, academia, and policy, The Earthshot Prize has identified over 3,000 of the best solutions from all sectors and geographies. And this year, The Prize received its most nominations ever: 2,429 game-changing solutions based in 139 countries worldwide and put forward by more than 430 Official Nominators.

The most recent class of Finalists are already rapidly scaling their solutions, with help from our Fellowship Programme, which aims to arrange partnerships, expand solutions into new markets, and accelerate entire sectors.

Since the 15 2023 Finalists were announced last September, the Fellowship Programme has connected them to 80 speaking opportunities, secured invites to more than 100 key climate-focused events, made 150 introductions to potential partners and funders, and conducted 11 masterclasses with experts in business, technology, and other key sectors.

The positive impact of our Finalists and Winners on communities worldwide showcases just how successful The Earthshot Prize’s support model can be.

To date, 45 solutions representing six continents have become Finalists for The Earthshot Prize. Collectively, the solutions from our 2021 and 2022 cohorts have:

    • Reduced, avoided, or captured 420,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions
    • Saved, reused, or recycled 2.5 million tonnes of water
    • Removed, upcycled, or avoided 100,000 tonnes of waste
