Executive Team

Jason spent seven years working for the now Prince and Princess of Wales, first as Kensington Palace Communications Director and then as a Chief Executive Officer of The Royal Foundation. At the Foundation he led the creation of The Earthshot Prize before serving on the Prize’s board until being appointed CEO in 2025.

Before joining The Royal Household, he was a Director of Corporate Affairs at the Royal Bank of Scotland leading the bank’s strategy across media relations, public affairs and sustainability.

Prior to this, Jason served as financial services spokesman at HM Treasury and was Press Secretary to the Financial Services Secretary following the 2008 financial crisis.

He began his career in New Zealand, where he spent four years as a Press Secretary, Speechwriter, and Communications Advisor to government ministers, including then Prime Minister Helen Clark.

Pamela began her career in corporate governance, compliance, and legal roles across several FTSE 100 companies. A Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute since 1997, she also served as an executive committee member of the GC100 for six years until 2024.

She subsequently spent a decade as Chief Governance Officer and Company Secretary of Rolls-Royce Holdings plc. In this role, she chaired the Charitable Contributions and Sponsorship Committee and sat on the executive-level Environmental and Sustainability Committee, overseeing the Group’s regulatory reporting on climate initiatives and sustainability progress.

Alongside her executive career, Pamela has held several senior non-executive positions, including Audit & Risk Committee Chair at the University of Greenwich until 2026. She currently serves as a Trustee of E-Act multi-academy trust and an independent non-executive director at the Remuneration Consultants Group.

Pamela joined The Earthshot Prize as Executive Director of Governance in February 2025.

Rachel worked at The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales for six years and led strategy for The Earthshot Prize when it was first created until it became an independent charity in July 2022. While at The Royal Foundation she also led major initiatives including the mental health programmes of The Prince and Princess of Wales.

Prior to rejoining The Earthshot Prize in 2025, Rachel was Director of Programmes and interim Chief Design Officer at the Design Council, overseeing policy, Government advisory, research and ‘Design for Planet’ programmes. She has also led strategy for Conservation International’s South Asia work and advised Expo City Dubai on strategy and programming for COP28.

Rachel has attended the University of Birmingham and the University of Cambridge. She has a Master’s in Social Innovation with distinction from the Judge Business School, with a focus on framing for environmental engagement and building support ecosystems for social innovation.

Mel spent her early career at EY, where she established a strong foundation in global finance practices. Following this, she transitioned into finance leadership within the media sector, spending over a decade at NBCUniversal and the BBC gaining extensive experience across international financial operations.

Following her time in media, Mel has since specialised in scaling global finance functions for a diverse portfolio of organisations, ranging from high-growth e-commerce start-ups to century-old international conservation charities. Throughout these roles, her focus has been on designing lean, agile teams capable of supporting rapid organisational growth and systemic impact.

Mel joined The Earthshot Prize in June 2024 as Chief Finance Officer and is responsible for the Prize’s financial strategy.

Jo brings over 25 years of experience representing high-profile businesses, governments, NGOs and charities.

Jo spent five years at specialist environmental consultancy Greenhouse Communications as Managing Director, overseeing a period of rapid growth and representing organisations in renewable energy, nature, climate and food systems.

Earlier in her career, Jo held several senior positions within WPP, the global marketing communications group. These included Chief Integration Officer at BCW, leading the merger of Burson Marsteller and Cohn & Wolfe, at the time the industry’s largest-ever agency consolidation, and Managing Director of Corporate Affairs at Cohn & Wolfe, advising on brand, media relations and sustainability.

Jo was recognised by PR Week in its annual Power Book in both 2025 and 2026 as one of the ten most powerful environmental communicators.

Fran spent the early part of her career as a broadcast journalist for ITN, Sky News, and the BBC. Transitioning into global advocacy, she became Partnerships Director at Project Everyone, the not-for-profit founded by filmmaker Richard Curtis to drive awareness for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

During her time at Project Everyone, Fran led strategic partnerships with organisations including Google and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She co-developed the Goalkeepers initiative with the Gates Foundation and served as Executive Producer of the annual Goalkeepers events, building a track record of high-level engagement and global storytelling.

Fran is now Executive Director of Global Engagement Strategy at The Earthshot Prize. She leads the curation of global events and engagement, creating unique experiences that bring together global leaders, innovators, and partners to celebrate Earthshot’s Finalists and shape how the Prize’s solutions and impact are presented to the world.
