Today, The Earthshot Prize announces the host of global stars supporting its 2025 Awards Night including performances from Anitta, Gilberto Gil, Kylie Minogue, Seu Jorge and Shawn Mendes, and an ‘action hero’ trailer introduction from Matthew McConaughey.

Marking the two-week countdown to 2025’s Awards Night, held on Wednesday 5 November at The Museum of Tomorrow, Rio de Janeiro, The Earthshot Prize releases “Meet the World’s True Action Heroes”, an Awards trailer voiced by Matthew McConaughey. The trailer, viewable below, features the 15 Finalists for the 2025 Earthshot Prize and showcases their solutions which are changing our world for the better, because “when the stakes are highest – that’s when heroes rise”.

 

The 2025 Awards Night is the culmination of The Earthshot Prize Summit – a three-day programme featuring high-level events, bilateral meetings and the Impact Assembly – in Rio de Janeiro from 3 – 5 November, where five of the 2025 Earthshot Prize Finalists will win a £1 million award to help advance or replicate their work and recognise their achievement and potential.

Some of the world’s most influential stars will join The Earthshot Prize in Rio to spotlight their inspiring environmental solutions and celebrate their outstanding leadership.

Global music star and Grammy nominee Anitta will perform on home soil. With over 63 million followers on Instagram, over 24 million TikTok followers, and nominations for two Grammy Awards and ten Latin Grammy Awards, Anitta is the Brazilian singer with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 and is widely known as the queen of Brazilian pop.

The musical icon Gilberto Gil, legendary singer, songwriter, and cultural ambassador will pause his final tour to make a special appearance at the Earthshot Prize ceremony, performing in collaboration with Anitta. The Grammy and Latin Grammy award winner who has shaped the sound of Brazilian music for decades, blending samba, tropicalia, reggae, and global rhythms into a uniquely vibrant tapestry. From his pioneering albums to his transformative role as Brazil’s Minister of Culture, Gilberto Gil’s artistry and vision embody creativity and the power of music to inspire change.

Global icon Kylie Minogue will also perform on stage. Kylie’s glittering career has seen her amass sales of over 80 million records worldwide, 5 billion streams and 10 UK No 1 albums. Her multiple awards include 4 BRIT Awards, 2 MTV Awards and 2 Grammys. Last year TIME included her in its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Continuing the line-up is Seu Jorge, one of Brazil’s most distinctive voices. A three-time Latin Grammy Award winner, the acclaimed singer, songwriter, and actor is celebrated for revitalising Brazilian pop samba, fusing traditional rhythms with soul and contemporary influences. From his breakout role in City of God to his iconic Portuguese renditions of David Bowie classics in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Seu Jorge’s artistry embodies the rhythm, resilience and spirit of Brazil.

Also performing on the night is Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and musician Shawn Mendes, who last performed in Brazil in March 2025, thrilling fans with an 18-song set at Lollapalooza São Paulo and a record-breaking, sold-out headlining performance at Rock in Rio. With over 70 million Instagram followers, Mendes is the youngest male artist ever to top the Billboard 200 with four studio albums. He most recently wrapped his sold-out On The Road Again Tour across Europe and North America.

 

The real heroes today are the people out there doing the work, restoring forests, cleaning rivers, and caring for the places we call home.

Their work reminds us that healing the Earth begins with small acts of courage, and I am proud to be part of The Earthshot Prize, celebrating that spirit and the people who refuse to give up on our planet.

Hosted by award-winning Brazilian broadcaster Luciano Huck, the Awards Night will also see a number of high-profile presenters, including one of the greatest full-backs in the history of Brazilian professional football, Cafu – the player with the most appearances for the Brazilian national team and captain of the 2002 FIFA World Cup winning team, and Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade, the most decorated Brazilian and Latin American Olympian with six Olympic and nine World medals. They will be joined by Sebastian Vettel, the youngest ever Formula 1 World Champion and four-time title winner, known for his commitment to environmental causes, and Indigenous Brazilian environmental activist and member of the UN Secretary-General’s Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change, Txai Suruí, a leading voice for Brazil’s Indigenous communities and the environment.

To remind the world of the urgency of the five Earthshot categories – the simple but ambitious goals for 2030 that drive us towards a thriving planet – South African actress and humanitarian Nomzamo Mbatha has lent her voice to five short films which will be shown during the Awards Night. The Earthshot Prize Global Ambassador explains why we must Protect and Restore Nature, Clean our Air, Revive our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix our Climate.

The star-studded Awards Night will be broadcast to an unprecedented audience of 34 million people in Brazil and the UK with partners BBC and Globo – airing on Multishow and Globoplay on 5 November, with a highlights show on TV Globo airing on 7 November, before streaming on BBC from 8 November. This will mark the biggest TV audience yet in the Prize’s history, amplifying the stories of the Winners around the world like never before.

With two weeks to go we are thrilled to announce the support of global artists, performers, and exceptional Brazilian talent, joining us in Rio.

We will welcome to Brazil a host of global leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and young people from around the world, who share our ambition and optimism, and we can’t wait to reveal our Winners on 5 November in what is set to be the greatest Earthshot yet.

In addition to A list talent joining the Awards Night, The Earthshot Prize also recently announced that Gisele Bündchen, one of the world’s most iconic supermodels, philanthropist, and NYT bestselling author, is joining The Prize as an esteemed Prize Council Member. Bündchen has been a passionate advocate for environmental and social causes. Gisele is the first Brazilian to take on this role, joining other high profile leaders including Prince William, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, Cate Blanchett, Sir David Attenborough, Ernest Gibson, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Indra Nooyi, Luisa Neubauer, Naoko Namazaki, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, José Andrés, Wanjira Mathai and Nemonte Nenquimo.

The Earthshot Prize will be announcing additional show details later this month, with more surprises to come before The Earthshot Prize touches down in Rio de Janeiro at the start of November.
