About
The Earthshot Prize

The Earthshot Prize is the world’s most prestigious environmental prize

Founded by HRH Prince William in 2020, The Earthshot Prize is driving a decade of action for the planet motivated by the belief that Urgency + Optimism = Action.

Our mission is to find, celebrate and scale the solutions that will repair our planet by 2030.

At our heart are five Earthshots – ambitious goals designed to Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-free World, and Fix Our Climate by 2030.

To find the solutions that will meet these goals, we combine thousands of submissions from hundreds of Official Nominators around the world with our own science-backed research.

This rigorous global approach means we identify the solutions with the biggest potential impact on our Earthshots – from indigenous communities and forward-thinking cities to innovative technologies, bold policymakers, pioneering businesses and international coalitions.

Then each year, we select the 15 most impactful solutions to become Earthshot Prize Finalists, celebrating them at unmissable annual Awards ceremonies, where five Winners each receive a transformative £1 million to help take their work to the next level.

Activating our network to accelerate impact

What makes The Earthshot Prize truly unique is how we create impact after the Awards.

The solutions we select as Finalists already have proven impact. From there, we work closely with each one to build a plan that will help them expand their work even further and faster, then activate our Global Alliance of partners to make it happen.

From helping embed solutions within the global businesses that shape our world to bringing policymakers together to speed up expansion or replication, we make sure every Finalist has the platform and the partners they need to repair our planet this decade.
